Private Lesson

1.5 hours · $75

Two-Week Course Paths

2-Week Beginning Course

2.5 hours of private-focus instruction, 3 times per week, with active Q&A throughout.

  1. Lesson 1: Clays, firing temperatures, handbuilding foundations (coil and slab).
  2. Lesson 2: Review, oxides/underglazes, slips, and handbuilt box forms.
  3. Lesson 3: Ceramic history, firing types, hump/slump molds, coil-slab combinations, or wheel by request.
  4. Lesson 4: Glaze basics, decoration methods (sgraffito, mishima, brushwork, carving, wax resist, slip trailing).
  5. Lesson 5: Continued building or wheel practice, glaze and underglaze decoration, glazing and firing prep.
  6. Lesson 6: Recap, finishing and decorative refinement.

2-Week Intermediate Course

1.5 to 2 hours of private-focus instruction, 3 times per week, with continuous feedback.

  1. Lesson 1: Bowl forms, shape/function decisions, and workflow efficiency.
  2. Lesson 2: Plates and platters, scaling and consistency strategies.
  3. Lesson 3: Trimming bowls/plates, rim design, and handle options.
  4. Lesson 4: Lidded forms, jars, bowls, teapots, and measuring for fit.
  5. Lesson 5: Teapot construction, knobs, handles, decoration, and firing preparation.
  6. Lesson 6: Recap, finishing details, and post-firing evaluation.
